ABOUT US

The MASU Consulting team works with organizations to help them become thriving workplaces with world-changing missions. We are woman-founded, immigrant-owned, and proud to center our vision in gender and racial equity. We specialize in organizational development, change management, and facilitation through the lens of inclusion, equity, and diversity, and started MASU Consulting based on our commitment to the advancement of social justice and human rights for all. As a result, we look to work with clients who also share our values.

As advocates, activists, and consultants with global experience, we know that passion is not enough to sustain an organization. A clear vision and a solid plan that is operationalized and appropriately resourced, communicated and implemented is a baseline requirement for sustainability and for success over the long haul. We believe that the best use of our considerable experience and skillset is supporting organizations to develop powerful strategies and build capacity to implement them within a healthy work culture.

OUR APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY

MASU Consulting has a track record of supporting organizations and their leaders through transitions, with special attention to ensuring that values of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the work.

We believe that organizational structure is inextricable from organizational culture development. We approach the work as an opportunity to not just create better structures for organizations, but also to build a healthy organizational culture along the way.

Organizations needing clarity about their internal challenges come to us for expert support. We frame social change work as wicked problems, with no simple solutions and no clear endpoint – social change issues can always be worked on and further improved. Hence, we help organizations brainstorm answers to questions about making and measuring progress, deciding at what level they are supposed to intervene, or where they have the most power or the biggest impact.

Using fractals as a metaphor—what happens at the smallest cell of the system is likely to happen at the largest cell of the system—we pay close attention to communications at the micro level of interpersonal relationships, as these are key to breaking silos and weakening structural entrenchment. These solid relationships require trust, which we believe can be strengthened by the ability to have difficult conversations. At MASU Consulting, we reframe that into “communicating honestly and kindly,” and we model that in every facet of our consulting engagement.

In all of our work, we will engage in collaborative and participatory processes, surfacing unspoken tensions, supporting you with care and compassion in the process of reflection, and equipping you with skills on how to communicate honestly and kindly, thus building your capacity for a sustainable organizational culture even beyond our work together. This work is as important as it is challenging, and we take pride in meeting people where they are at while stretching them to embrace new perspectives that lead to outstanding outcomes.
